讓人有點意外的是，盡管這部片在電影節大放異彩，豆瓣上這么多人期盼了一年， LGBT大本營的紐約都依舊只有兩家電影院在放映，可以說，《斷背山》過去這么多年，LGBT電影的小眾性依舊沒有得到改善，哪怕 去年《月光男孩》得獎，也不見得對此有巨大幫助。難怪傻逼兮兮的SONY Classic之前宣傳時還用男主女配的海報圖，是希望騙大家這是異性戀電影所以好讓觀眾買票入場？
