In 1934, the United States. Dustball. A fugitive named Ben Hawkins found refuge during a travel carnival consisting of a Tarot card reader and her mother with stress/remote control, a blind psychiatrist, a bearded woman, and a pair of conjoined twins. The carnival is owned by a mysterious and unknown management, who has designs for the young Hawkins because this boy hides an untapped gift: he can heal the lame and raise the dead - it comes at a cost. Ben also found himself troubled by mysterious and prophetic dreams, which he shared with the Justin Crow brothers, a Methodist missionary in California. The Justin brothers firmly believe that their dream is to follow God's will, and they have begun to practice their extraordinary talents, despite the increasingly unsettling tragic consequences of this missionary's plan. In this last great magical era, Ben Hawkins and Justin Crowe are moving towards a huge conflict between good and evil, although it is not yet clear which side these people will stand on.
