In Nazi concentration camps, German political prisoner Karl was sentenced to death for taking notes of banned radio programs. Another criminal, David, was an ordinary watchmaker from Paris who survived because he could repair SS watches. Two Nazi concentration camp commanders made a twisted bet: they locked both prisoners in barbed wire fences and promised that whoever killed another prisoner late at night would be free.
